Assalamu Alaikum,

Below is a link to just, in my opinion, graphic design without the
unnecessary.  amazing!  a breath of fresh air.

Assalamu Alaikum,

im a big fan of “form follows function.”  i read about this concept when i spent a year pursuing an architecture degree…didnt work out…i ended up hating architects (except you aatif!).  it was originally put forth by the architect louis sullivan and followed up by  mies van der rohe who said, “less is more.”  it is, it truly is!
people who have been for hajj or umrah will understand this more.  the masjid around the kabah is probably one of the most ornamented building in the world, yet it can not compare to the beauty of the kabah which is inherently a block made of red bricks.  even the cloth is black with some gold writing on it.
yet the kabah takes your breath away the first time you lays eyes on it.  why?  because its form follows its function, and it is designed with the necessary, and removed from the unnecessary.  the function of the building, enhanced by its form, is where the true beauty lies.
NOW
taking graphic design 2 this semester i learned a valuble lesson on form and function.  designs should contain no more ornamentation than what is necessary.  however, when LEARNING about design it is best to over-ornament and push the limits of your idea, because it is always easy to simplify afterwards then to work your way up to the proper limit.  its the same concept at aiming for the stars and hitting the moon.
